Last Post from 'Bockleton Live'

Well...it's been emotional! Our final evening saw the sun finally come out and warm the fields and we made the most of it, having an hour or so free time outside, before moving inside for a mini-disco and table tennis competition.

The kids have been great fun to be with this week- we've got to know them better and see sides of them we don't usually see in school- and in a good way too! ;-) Watching them grow in confidence, conquer their fears and work together in a wide range of challenges has been hugely satisfying and reminds us why we teach!

Thanks for all YOUR support, the tweets and comments you have made- the children have really appreciated knowing that you have been following them this week via the wonders of the internet- even if it does take hours to upload photos and video from the middle of the countryside. :-(

The children are very much looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow; as previously mentioned, you may need to clear your washing baskets in preparation for the onslaught of mud.

We should be arriving back at school for around 3pm if you would like to come a little early to collect- it might be easier to navigate suitcases down the drive before the buggies arrive! We will be operating a sign-out system tomorrow- once you have been re-united with your child please sign them out with Miss Grosvenor so that we know they've been collected safely.

The videos and photos will be uploaded over the next few weeks onto this blog- we will also tweet updates when new galleries/videos are available so you can share in the excitement of the week with your child. (The Y6 leavers video currently has priority I'm afraid, but we'll get Bockleton vids done ASAP!)

See you all tomorrow...children will need a BATH, a TAKEAWAY and BED. The Bockleton teachers will also be doing the same! ;-) Night night!  Mr S

Day 3 Quick Update

No Twitter messages tonight- too busy dancing! See photos...

Great day 3 doing Zip Wire, Climbing and Shelter building. Some found the Zip and Climb hard but did their best. I filmed from the top of the tower and took lots of photos- video coming tomorrow hopefully.

We had Pizza Day today for evening meal- delicious- lots of people wanted seconds, and some children have said they want to bring the Bockleton dinner ladies back in their cases :-)

"This is the best holiday ever" was heard from one of the boys today!

We set up the disco today for the evening activity, although some children wanted to play 'Harry Potter' in the forest. It's been great seeing them getting on so well and making new friends from other classes!

Less tears tonight and lots of smiles in the disco and during activities- the children were very tired this evening so we had an earlier night and all were in bed by 9.30pm and asleep by 9.45pm.

We're paddling on Bockleton lake tomorrow (in boats!), doing the Crate Stack and some team problem solving activities. Off to edit a video to upload tomorrow, so night night! :-) Mr S

Day 2 Gallery 2

More later...

Final group are Power Fanning right now, so photos of these will be published later (probably after 10pm). We also hope to upload some short video clips and messages home starting this evening.

Day 2 Power Fan

Day One Report

Breakfast of cereal, sausage, egg, beans, toast, yoghurt and fruit set us up for an exciting day. We split into 3 groups for activities and each group is now on their final session of either Power Fan, Rope Challenges or Tunnelling.

Lots of fun has been had by all today- many conquered their fear of heights on the power fan- even Mr Rai had a go and managed to get to the top and jump off without too much screaming. Tunnelling was 'fun and muddy' and Rope Challenges gave the children an opportunity to work together in a large team, helping and supporting each other as they completed a range of tasks!

We have lots of free time planned for this evening- a chance to tire ourselves out before bed and explore the forest and adventure playground.

Day one photos coming soon...will tweet when online! We'll also try some messages home this evening using blogger or twitter, so keep an eye out for them...

First Night!

First night sleep very good actually (NOT what we were expecting!). All asleep by 10.30pm and all got up at a relatively sensible time. Although we had some minor tears before bed last night from a couple of the girls, they fell asleep quickly and were all smiles this morning after a good (and nightmare free!) night. Confidence is growing in their abilities to survive without mum and dad- lets hope it continues! :-)

Day 1 Quick Report!

Thanks for being patient- have found a network point that seems to be letting me through to Google, which the blog and photo slideshows rely on! For some reason this refuses to work upstairs in the staff room, so am sat in the corner of the dining room, blogging away!

Coach journey good- no pukers! :-) No traffic, nice and clear.

Weather on arrival- rain.
Weather during local 2 mile walk- rain.
Children after local 2 mile walk- wet and muddy! (Prepare your washing machines for the worst)

Evening meal good- all ate, no complaints. We gave the children a bit of dorm time, free time then an evening activity; Egg Drop; protect an egg being dropped from first floor landing- children did very well at this, making parachutes and landing pads for their eggs!

First evening sleep so far, so good; some teachers have now retired for the evening since all are sleeping- the excitement has worn them out. Let's hope they stay sleeping until morning! More tomorrow...enjoy your first evening of peace and quiet...and don't WORRY!!! Mr. S
